UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski is scheduled to put his title on the line against undefeated challenger Movsar Evloev in the main event of UFC 333 in Abu Dhabi. The bout marks a critical test in Volkanovski's reign, coming just weeks after the champion turned 38 years old.
The championship contest carries significant historical weight for the 145-pound division. According to an MMA Fighting panel analysis, a victory over Evloev would see Volkanovski surpass José Aldo for the most UFC title fight wins while tying Aldo's promotional record for featherweight title defenses. Volkanovski also holds a previous head-to-head victory over Aldo from earlier in his career.
Volkanovski has sought a matchup with Evloev for roughly two years, setting up a long-awaited collision between the veteran champion and the unbeaten challenger. The UFC 333 card in Abu Dhabi will also showcase key divisional matchups featuring Petr Yan and Merab Dvalishvili, creating a pivotal night for historical debates across the lighter weight classes.
