Australian lightweight Tom Nolan has completed a permanent move from Australia to New Zealand, joining Eugene Bareman’s City Kickboxing gym in Auckland ahead of the biggest fight of his career. Nolan is scheduled to headline UFC Vegas 123 against Renato “Money” Moicano on Oct. 31 at the Meta Apex in Las Vegas.
Speaking to MMA Junkie, Nolan explained that the move occurred before he was offered the main event slot against Moicano. He initially visited the Auckland gym for a two-week trial period before committing to the permanent relocation, receiving the fight offer shortly thereafter.
Nolan described the preparation as the best training camp of his career by a wide margin, praising the coaching staff and the sheer volume of active UFC fighters on the mats. He noted that the number of octagon veterans training at the gym at a single time surpasses the total membership of most facilities in Australia.
Preparing for his first promotional main event, Nolan highlighted the diverse perspectives and training partners available under Bareman's tutelage, stating that the gym provides numerous minds to learn from and an unmatched depth of high-level training partners.
