Australian lightweight Tom Nolan is set to headline UFC Vegas 123 against veteran Renato Moicano this Saturday at the Meta APEX. The headlining opportunity comes just one week after fellow Australian Alexander Volkanovski delivered a second-round TKO victory over the previously undefeated Movsar Evloev to defend his featherweight championship at UFC 333.

Speaking to MMA Fighting, Nolan reflected on the impact of Volkanovski's dominant performance. "Yeah, man I knew he was going to win, but to win like that was very, very impressive," Nolan said. "When he goes out and does that, it’s, honestly, just insane, man.

It’s an honor to be the next weekend’s main event after him. It’s pretty cool." Nolan noted that having Australians headline back-to-back UFC events highlights significant progress for the country's mixed martial arts scene compared to ten years ago.

Nolan enters the bout on a five-fight winning streak. He had previously agreed to step in on one week's notice against Moicano at UFC 331 following the withdrawal of Brian Ortega. According to Nolan, Moicano’s camp requested additional preparation time for the 26-year-old, leading to the matchup being rescheduled as the UFC Vegas 123 headliner. The fighter added that accepting that challenge, alongside recently relocating and purchasing a home with his partner, underscores his commitment to reaching his full potential in the sport.
