Teixeira: Sergei Pavlovich Better Style Matchup for Alex Pereira Than Gane
Glover Teixeira believes Sergei Pavlovich presents a more favorable stylistic matchup for Alex Pereira than heavyweight champion Ciryl Gane ahead of UFC 335.

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Glover Teixeira believes his protégé, Alex Pereira, will find Sergei Pavlovich to be a much more manageable stylistic matchup than reigning heavyweight champion Ciryl Gane. Pereira and Pavlovich are scheduled to clash in the co-main event of UFC 335 on Dec. 12 in Las Vegas.
Pereira enters the contest looking to rebound from a second-round technical knockout loss to Gane in his heavyweight debut at UFC Freedom 250 in June. Speaking to Sherdog, Teixeira explained that Pavlovich’s more planted approach will give Pereira a clearer path to victory compared to the footwork and evasiveness displayed by Gane.
“Every heavyweight fight is dangerous, and this one definitely isn’t going to the fifth round,” Teixeira said. “It’s a better matchup for ‘Poatan’ compared to Ciryl Gane’s style. Gane moves around more, while Pavlovich tends to stay more planted. To win, ‘Poatan’ needs to fight the right fight, maintain his distance and be faster.”
Teixeira noted that Pereira remains fully focused on his long-term goal of becoming the first three-division champion in UFC history.
