Sedriques Dumas has spoken out following his quick defeat at UFC Vegas 121 on Sept. 26, noting that a last-minute opponent replacement worked against him. Dumas was originally scheduled to face Mickey Gall in a middleweight matchup, but Gall was pulled from the card less than three days before the event due to an undisclosed medical issue.

Dana White’s Contender Series graduate Luis Hernandez stepped up on short notice to take the fight. With the late switch, the bout was moved up to light heavyweight, where Dumas weighed in significantly lighter than Hernandez. Hernandez dominated from the opening bell, overpowering Dumas in the grappling exchanges before locking in a standing guillotine choke to force a tap in just 57 seconds. Hernandez earned a $100,000 performance bonus for the win, while Dumas extended his winless streak to five fights.

Addressing the outcome on his Instagram stories, Dumas pointed out that he had spent months specifically preparing for Gall. While acknowledging that the sudden change of opponent proved unfavorable, Dumas stated that he is unbothered by outside criticism and remains focused on self-improvement. "I give two else about what people say how people feel I know I gotta fix me and that's just it," Dumas wrote, adding his gratitude to his team and those who continue to support him.
