Ryan Garcia Defends Conor Benn After Disrespectful Interview Question

Ryan Garcia retained his WBC welterweight title last month at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, defeating Conor Benn via second-round technical knockout after dropping the challenger. Despite their recent clash inside the ring, Garcia has now stepped up to defend his former rival from media criticism.

The situation arose following an interview between Benn and Gunman Boxing's Wesley Graham. During the exchange, Graham stated to Benn, "Your fight against Ryan Garcia didn't go as planned." Benn responded by explaining that a difficult weight cut had impacted his performance in the ring, adding, "You go swimming, you get wet. You bounce back, it's life, it happens…"

Garcia took exception to Graham's phrasing and voiced his support for Benn on social media. Writing on X, Garcia urged Benn not to tolerate such remarks from reporters who do not compete. "Conor don’t ever let this f*cking disrespect you again," Garcia wrote. "He wouldn’t dare enter a ring he had no right to say that shit."
