Joselyne Edwards could have an opportunity to fight for Ultimate Fighting Championship gold at UFC 334. According to a report by Guilherme Cruz, Edwards will serve as the official backup fighter and weigh in as a potential replacement should either champion Kayla Harrison or challenger Amanda Nunes be unable to compete.

UFC 334 is scheduled to take place on Nov. 14 at Madison Square Garden in New York. The co-main event features Harrison (19-1) defending her bantamweight title against UFC Hall of Famer Nunes (23-5).

Nunes retired in 2023 before arranging a comeback fight against Harrison, her former teammate at American Top Team. The matchup was originally planned for UFC 324 in January, but was postponed after Harrison suffered a neck injury that required surgery.

Edwards (18-6) enters the standby role on the strength of a five-fight winning streak, which includes four stoppage victories. The Panamanian fighter went 4-4 across her first eight UFC appearances before putting together her current run of form, most recently defeating Norma Dumont by unanimous decision.
