A planned lightweight matchup between Renato Moicano and Brian Ortega has been scrapped from Saturday’s UFC 331 card in Los Angeles. UFC officials announced the news on Monday, confirming that Ortega suffered an undisclosed injury that resulted in the bout being called off and Moicano being pulled from the event.

Moicano has already been handed a new assignment following the cancellation. Instead of fighting in Los Angeles, Moicano will headline an upcoming UFC Fight Night event scheduled for Oct. 31 at the Meta APEX in Las Vegas, where he will face lightweight contender Tom Nolan in the main event.

With Moicano vs. Ortega removed, UFC 331 is now reduced to a 12-fight lineup. A heavyweight matchup between Gable Steveson and Sean Sharaf has been elevated to open the main card. UFC 331 is headlined by a flyweight championship clash between titleholder Joshua Van and former champion Alexandre Pantoja.
