Renato Moicano Plans to Fight Out UFC Deal, Test Free Agency

Ahead of his UFC Vegas 123 headliner against Tom Nolan, lightweight veteran Renato Moicano revealed he intends to fight out the remaining three bouts on his UFC contract.

Longtime UFC veteran Renato Moicano is preparing to bet on himself as he approaches the final stretch of his promotional contract. The 37-year-old lightweight is scheduled to headline UFC Vegas 123 this Saturday against Tom Nolan at the Meta APEX in Las Vegas, entering the bout with three fights left on his current deal.

Speaking to MMA Fighting, Moicano confirmed that he plans to fulfill his remaining contract obligations before assessing his options on the open market. He noted that while continued negotiations with the UFC depend on financial terms, he is eager to explore free agency and potential ventures outside of traditional mixed martial arts, such as boxing or influencer opportunities, alongside his existing businesses, gym, YouTube channel, and fighter management work in Brazil.

Moicano recently snapped a two-fight losing streak, a skid that included a championship stoppage defeat against Islam Makhachev at UFC 311 in January 2025 followed by a decision loss. Prior to being booked against Nolan, Moicano was scheduled to face Brian Ortega in a rematch twice this year—first at UFC 326 in March and then at UFC 331 in September—though Ortega withdrew from both bouts.
