UFC bantamweight champion Petr Yan believes he holds the upper hand heading into his trilogy clash against Merab Dvalishvili. The two rivals are scheduled to settle their series at UFC 333 on Oct. 24 at Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi, where Yan will put his 135-pound title on the line.

The series currently stands tied at 1-1. Dvalishvili captured the initial meeting in 2023 by unanimous decision, leaning heavily on relentless wrestling to control the action. However, Yan evened the score in their December 2025 title rematch, successfully neutralizing Dvalishvili's takedowns and connecting with effective strikes to reclaim the championship via unanimous decision.

Speaking in a pre-fight interview reported by Sherdog, Yan stated that the time shared inside the cage has given him all the insight he needs. "We definitely have enough information downloaded from the time we spent together in the Octagon," Yan said. "But the second victory, obviously, was very dominant. I’ve figured him out and I’m gonna do whatever I can to this time bring the same type of victory and even open new layers which we haven’t seen yet."
