UFC commentator and former fighter Paul Felder opened up about the frightening scene at UFC Vegas 121, where Raoni Barcelos collapsed during the main event at the Meta Apex in Las Vegas. The back-and-forth bout came to an abrupt end when Barcelos went limp during a wrestling exchange against the Octagon fence. The referee waved off the contest immediately, and Barcelos was removed from the cage on a stretcher and transported to a hospital.

Speaking on the "Believe You Me" podcast, Felder recounted the distressing moments as medical personnel attended to the unconscious fighter. Felder was particularly alarmed to see ringside doctors immediately check Barcelos' pulse, a reaction he had never witnessed following a standard knockout. “His neck was all clinched up and he was unconscious,” Felder said.

“And it looked like he was — I thought he had a heart attack, off the bat. Then they came in, and they checked his pulse, which was terrifying to see. I have never seen somebody that was KO’d, where they come in and the first thing they did, the doctor put his fingers right on Raoni’s pulse.”

The former lightweight contender explained that the lingering uncertainty heightened his concern as Barcelos remained motionless on the canvas. “He was just not getting up and then I’m thinking, ‘Is it a stroke? But if they weren’t doing CPR and his pulse was at least there and present and he’s breathing, proba[bly]...’” Felder recalled.

It was later confirmed that Barcelos was conscious and responsive following the incident. While the Brazilian reportedly remains under medical supervision, Barcelos addressed supporters on social media to assure them that he is doing well.
