Undefeated featherweight contender Movsar Evloev is prepared to defend his ground against anyone the promotion assigns, including lightweight contender Arman Tsarukyan. Speaking at media day ahead of his title clash against Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 333 this Saturday, Evloev addressed the possibility of Tsarukyan cutting down to 145 pounds in the future.
“If Arman wants to come down to featherweight, like I said, it’s my territory,” Evloev said, as reported by MMA Fighting. “Whether Arman comes down or someone moves up, I don’t know, it makes no difference who I fight. Make 145 and we’ll fight, if the UFC wants that fight, of course.” Tsarukyan is currently awaiting his next bout with hopes of fighting 155-pound champion Justin Gaethje, but has previously teased a move to featherweight.
Evloev enters this weekend's main event with a 20-0 professional record, which includes 10 victories in the UFC following his recent win over Murphy. Standing across from him is Volkanovski, who holds an 18-1 featherweight record across his 14-year career, with past wins over Jose Aldo and Max Holloway. Should Evloev defeat the champion, he would join Ilia Topuria as the only fighters to beat Volkanovski at 145 pounds, though Evloev emphasized that taking the belt is merely the beginning of his journey.
