Movsar Evloev is scheduled to challenge Alexander Volkanovski for the featherweight championship at UFC 333 on Oct. 24 at Etihad Arena on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi. Heading into his first Ultimate Fighting Championship title challenge, the undefeated Russian contender is aiming to make a major statement.
Although Evloev has long been established as a top contender in the division, he has yet to record a finish inside the Octagon. He hopes to change that pattern by capturing the belt in emphatic fashion. “This is my first title fight,” Evloev told MMA Fighting. “And we’re looking to make it my first finish in the UFC.”
Evloev also noted that earlier in his career, detractors frequently minimized his victories over regional champions by claiming his opponents were past their prime or had endured poor training camps. To avoid similar criticism if he dethrones the 38-year-old Volkanovski, Evloev expressed that he wants to face the absolute best version of "The Great" in Abu Dhabi with no excuses attached.
