Khamzat Chimaev Offers Sean Strickland $1 Million for Rematch

Khamzat Chimaev has offered UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland $1 million to settle their rivalry in a fight outside the promotion.

Khamzat Chimaev is eager to settle the score with Sean Strickland, going so far as to offer the reigning UFC middleweight champion $1 million to fight outside the Octagon, MMA Fighting reported. Chimaev sent a message to Strickland on Monday, offering "one lemon"—slang for $1 million—and telling his rival to send a location.

The rivalry stems from their clash in May at UFC 328, where Strickland defeated Chimaev via split decision in the main event to capture the UFC middleweight title. The defeat was the first of Chimaev’s professional career, and "Borz" has been actively seeking a rematch ever since.

However, Nassourdine Imavov appears to be next in line to challenge for the 185-pound championship, though nothing has been officially announced by the UFC. With Chimaev stating that he does not care about the championship belt and solely wants another fight against Strickland, the contender proposed bypassing official matchmaking to resolve their feud.

Strickland has yet to respond to Chimaev’s latest proposition. The two middleweights have routinely taken shots at one another in the media following their title bout.
