Featherweight contender Kevin Vallejos is hoping Alexander Volkanovski successfully defends his title against the undefeated Movsar Evloev at UFC 333 in Abu Dhabi. Speaking to MMA Fighting, Vallejos explained that he wants Volkanovski to remain champion so he can eventually be the one to take the belt from the long-reigning titleholder.

Vallejos, who has lost only once in 19 professional bouts, is currently riding a four-fight winning streak. He is scheduled to take on former UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling in the co-main event of UFC Qatar on Nov. 21. Vallejos believes a statement victory over Sterling could immediately thrust him into the title conversation.

Assessing the UFC 333 title clash, Vallejos acknowledged that Evloev's 20-0 record presents a tough test, but picked Volkanovski to defend the takedowns and win. If Vallejos gets past Sterling, he hopes it will set up his dream championship matchup against Volkanovski.
