Josh Hokit has fired back at Alexander Volkov after the veteran heavyweight dismissed his championship credentials. Hokit (10-0) is scheduled to challenge Ciryl Gane (14-2, 1 NC) for the UFC heavyweight title at UFC 334 on Nov. 14 at Madison Square Garden. Following the announcement of the title bout, Volkov labeled Hokit an easy matchup and predicted that Gane would defeat the undefeated challenger.
Responding on social media platform X, Hokit compared their respective resumes, as reported by Sherdog. The American noted that he holds victories over Derrick Lewis and Curtis Blaydes, both of whom previously defeated Volkov. Hokit also pointed out that Gane holds two victories over Volkov, expressing confidence heading into his own upcoming championship bout.
"The Incredible Hok" further downplayed Volkov's recent run. Volkov has secured consecutive decision victories over Jailton Almeida and Waldo Cortes-Acosta and is set to face Rizvan Kuniev at UFC 333 on Oct. 24 in Abu Dhabi. Hokit countered that Blaydes already holds wins over both Almeida and Kuniev.
Looking beyond the heavyweight division, Hokit claimed that Volkov will never get the opportunity to face him inside the Octagon. "Volkov saying he’d beat me easy is funny… He’ll never get the chance," Hokit wrote. "By the time you earn a fight with me, I’ll already be dominating LH."
