UFC Hall of Famer Jose Aldo is open to making a return to the boxing ring in 2027. In an interview with MMA Fighting, the former UFC featherweight champion stated that there is a "high chance" he will compete in boxing again, pointing to lucrative financial opportunities as a major motivator.

Aldo previously compiled a 2-0-1 professional boxing record following his initial MMA retirement in 2022, securing two victories in Brazil alongside a majority draw against Jeremy Stephens. He returned to the Octagon in 2024 to defeat Jonathan Martinez. Earlier this year, Aldo held discussions with Spaten Fight Night officials regarding an appearance on a card headlined by Glover Teixeira, though timing constraints kept the matchup from materializing.

Aldo explained that Spaten required an immediate response while he was on vacation in Cancun. Because he still has three fights remaining on his UFC contract, any outside venture requires approval from the promotion. Aldo noted that UFC CEO Dana White had previously assured him they would allow boxing opportunities, and he plans to approach White, Hunter Campbell, and Mick Maynard if another offer arises.

During the Spaten event in Sao Paulo, where Aldo served as a color commentator for Globo TV, promotion officials Flavio and Kyra told him backstage that he remains their top target. Aldo praised Spaten for compensating athletes well and focusing on legitimate competition rather than influencer matchups.
