The Ultimate Fighting Championship has reportedly arranged a new headliner for UFC Vegas 124 on Nov. 7 at the Meta Apex in Las Vegas. According to Brazilian journalist Laerte Viana, light heavyweight veteran turned heavyweight Johnny Walker will meet Waldo Cortes-Acosta in a short-notice heavyweight main event.

The shake-up comes after the original main event fell apart. Welterweights Sean Brady and Gabriel Bonfim were scheduled to headline the card, but Brady withdrew due to an injury just nine days prior to the event. Although the promotion initially searched for a replacement opponent to keep Bonfim active, Bonfim (20-1) confirmed on Instagram that he is officially off the card.

Walker (23-10, 1 NC) steps into the headlining role following a successful heavyweight debut at UFC 332, where he knocked out Mick Parkin in the first round to secure a Performance of the Night bonus. Cortes-Acosta (17-4) will aim to rebound after suffering back-to-back decision defeats against Alexander Volkov and Curtis Blaydes, which halted a three-fight stoppage winning streak.
