Johnny Walker is set to headline UFC Vegas 124 this Saturday in Las Vegas, stepping in on short notice to face Waldo Cortes-Acosta. Following an impressive heavyweight debut in October, where he scored a flying knee knockout over Mick Parkin, Johnny and his half-brother, Valter Walker, are both positioned as top-ranked contenders in the division. Despite their parallel success, Johnny made it abundantly clear that fighting his brother is entirely off the table.
Speaking to MMA Fighting, Johnny rejected any notion of a future matchup against Valter inside the cage. "Are you crazy?" Johnny said. "I don’t want to hurt my own blood, you know?
If you stop and think about it, when we’re in there, it’s something very primitive. We want to rip the other guy’s head off... But doing that to your own brother, someone who shares your blood, there’s no way.
Unless the guy is completely crazy — and I’m not that crazy."
While Johnny is glad to see his brother thrive in mixed martial arts, he acknowledged that their personal relationship has faced difficulties due to Valter's online behavior. Johnny expressed a desire for a closer bond, but explained that Valter's disrespectful antics have caused friction. "I’d like to have a brother I could count on 100 percent, but his jokes and crazy behavior end up upsetting my mother, my wife, and even his own fans," Johnny said, adding that he believes the issue may simply be a matter of age.
