Mike Malott secured his fifth consecutive victory on Saturday, delivering a brutal second-round knockout against Joaquin Buckley in the main event of UFC Edmonton. Following a competitive opening frame, the decisive sequence occurred when Malott threw a kick that landed as a vicious knee flush to Buckley's face, sending him face-first to the canvas.
Following the bout, Buckley reviewed the finish on his Kick channel, as reported by MMA Fighting. Buckley expressed disbelief at the nature of the stoppage during the stream.
"I ain’t ever been out like that, bro," Buckley said. "Yeah, that shit sucked. ...
I’ve been knocked out before. I used to always say, ‘But I ain’t ever been slept though.’ That motherf*cker slept my ass."
The setback marks Buckley's third consecutive defeat, following back-to-back lopsided decision losses heading into the matchup. It also represents Buckley's first stoppage defeat in nearly four years, dating back to a second-round TKO loss against Chris Curtis at UFC 282 in December 2022.
