Jean Silva delivered a decisive performance in his second promotional headliner, submitting Jose Delgado in the main event of Noche UFC 4 on Sept. 12 in Glendale, Arizona. The Brazilian featherweight ended the contest in the third round by locking in a one-arm rear-naked choke to force the tap.
Following the victory, Silva explained that the finishing sequence was not a spontaneous opening, but rather the exact scenario he and his team had drilled leading up to the bout. The Fighting Nerds standout credited his coaches with identifying Delgado's habits and game plan well in advance.
"It’s crazy to say this, but it went just as we rehearsed back at home," Silva said in his post-fight interview, as reported by Sherdog. "We knew exactly what was going to happen, the way that he was going to charge, the position that he [would be in]... It was something that was according to the plan."
With another stoppage victory under his belt, Silva set his sights on the top of the division. Following the win, he called for a championship opportunity, eyeing the winner of Alexander Volkanovski's next bout.
