Jean-Paul Lebosnoyani extended his Octagon winning streak on Saturday, earning a third-round technical knockout victory over Farman Hasanov at UFC Vegas 123. The bout came to an end when the cageside doctor called a halt to the contest at the 2:11 mark of Round 3. Following his victory, Lebosnoyani set his sights on Australian veteran Jake Matthews as his preferred next matchup.
Speaking in his postfight interview, Lebosnoyani acknowledged that Matthews is already booked for an upcoming fight but made it clear he views him as the ideal target. "I know this guy's got a fight booked, but he's been in the company for a long time. And I think it would be the next step up," Lebosnoyani said, as reported by Sherdog. "Jake Matthews, finish your fight, and let's dance, baby."
With the victory, Lebosnoyani improved his career record to 12-2, picking up his third consecutive UFC win after previously earning decision victories over Philip Rowe and Seok Hyeon Ko. The 32-year-old Matthews (23-8), who most recently defeated Carlston Harris by unanimous decision in May, is scheduled to return to action against Tahir Abdullayev at UFC Fight Night 294 on Nov. 21 in Doha, Qatar.
