Gilbert Burns: Khamzat Chimaev Needs Camp Stability to Win Multiple Titles
Gilbert Burns believes Khamzat Chimaev can rebound from his first career loss and capture UFC titles in multiple divisions if he stabilizes his coaching staff.

Gilbert Burns has weighed in on what he believes is holding former opponent Khamzat Chimaev back in his UFC career. The two welterweight contenders previously clashed in a memorable 2022 bout, and they are now set to meet in a freestyle wrestling match at RAF 13 on Sept. 18 at the Watsco Center in Miami.
Chimaev (15-1) is looking to rebound after suffering his first professional defeat, where he lost the UFC middleweight championship to Sean Strickland (31-7). Speaking to Red Corner MMA, as reported by Sherdog, Burns expressed full confidence that "Borz" will return hungry, but raised concerns over Chimaev's recent habit of switching training environments.
Burns noted that Chimaev appeared to operate better when he was based out of Allstars Training Center in Stockholm, Sweden, under head coach Andreas Michael. Although Chimaev still has longtime jiu-jitsu coach Alan "Finfou" Nascimento in his corner, Burns argued that the former champion needs a definitive team leader and a smaller, cohesive camp. According to Burns, with a solid team capable of directing him, Chimaev still possesses the talent to become a champion across two or even three divisions.
