The UFC added four new fighters to its roster on Tuesday, Oct. 6, as Dana White's Contender Series Season 10, Week 9 took place at the Meta Apex in Las Vegas. The event featured four finishes that earned four athletes UFC contracts, with Sherdog reporting that the group of signees included a UFC employee.

The action began in the bantamweight division, where Alivia Bierley (6-1) defeated Summer Onley (6-1) via unanimous decision. Despite the win, promotion CEO Dana White opted not to award Bierley a contract following the lackluster affair. "I had it 1-1 going into the third round," White explained.

"And I felt like neither girl tried to really get in there and impose their will and really show they wanted to win that fight. I didn’t see that in that third round, and that’s what made me make my decision."

The momentum shifted in the second bout of the night, as 22-year-old bantamweight Mateus Soares (12-2) knocked out Ryuho Miyaguchi (7-2) in just over a minute. Soares was awarded a UFC contract on the spot, with White stating, "Soares, you’re exactly what I was looking for. You’re an absolute killer at 22 years old. And I’m excited to see your career in the UFC."

In a flyweight clash, Roque Conceicao Moreira Junior (12-3) secured his own contract against Alexander Chavez (9-1). After trading strikes on the feet, Conceicao was slammed to the canvas by Chavez but quickly locked in a first-round triangle choke to force the tapout. White lauded the performance, noting, "Nasty kicks, great exchanges, then the slam right into the triangle. What I loved about your fight was everything."
