Former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder is set to face undefeated cruiserweight titleholder Jai Opetaia in a heavyweight contest on Dec. 11. Netflix announced the matchup Wednesday as part of the undercard for the Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua event at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales.
Wilder (45-4-1) brings his trademark power into the clash, with 43 of his 45 career victories coming by way of knockout or technical knockout. The veteran puncher will test Opetaia in the latter's return to the sport's heaviest division.
Opetaia (31-0) signed with Dana White’s Zuffa Boxing organization in 2026. Since joining the promotion, he has competed twice and captured the inaugural Zuffa Boxing cruiserweight title against Brandon Glanton. The upcoming bout marks the Australian's first heavyweight appearance since 2017.
UFC CEO Dana White also made an announcement regarding the booking, amid Eddie Hearn previously questioning White's involvement in the Fury vs. Joshua promotion.
