Raoni Barcelos is recovering well after suffering a frightening collapse during the fifth round of his main event bout against Raul Rosas Jr at UFC Vegas 121 on Saturday. Barcelos remained unconscious for several minutes inside the Octagon and was removed from the arena by medical personnel, but he eventually regained consciousness and was released from the hospital.
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday following the latest episode of Dana White's Contender Series, UFC CEO Dana White addressed the incident for the first time after not attending Saturday's event. White confirmed that Barcelos is already up, talking, and walking around. Although no official diagnosis has been made public regarding what caused the collapse, White highlighted the swift medical response at the venue.
"All the pre-fight medicals were triple-checked, everything was good. There were six doctors here that night, three ambulances, he was taken straight to the trauma center, not to Valley," White said. "Everything was done the right way and the outcome was good."
Barcelos has insisted he will return to training and fighting following the ordeal. However, White made it clear that discussing a potential return to the Octagon is not on the table right now, stating, "Not even thinking about that."
