Damian Pinas is set to return to action on Oct. 3 at UFC 332 in Salt Lake City, where the middleweight prospect will face Andrey Pulyaev. Heading into the bout, "The Baba Yaga" is looking to extend his UFC first-round knockout streak to three consecutive fights.
Since securing a UFC contract on Dana White’s Contender Series, Pinas (10-1) has built significant momentum with back-to-back finishes inside the Octagon. The finisher holds a 100 percent stoppage rate across his 10 career victories, boasting nine knockouts and one submission win. In a pre-fight interview reported by Sherdog, Pinas explained that his recent run has completely shifted how fans and opponents evaluate him.
“Yeah, since my last fight, everybody gave me more respect, more recognition; they didn't count me out,” Pinas said. While his UFC tenure so far has showcased his striking power, Pinas warned that he has yet to reveal the full scope of his arsenal. “Now, my grappling area… Nobody saw my grappling,” Pinas added. “Everybody thinks that I don't have grappling, but I keep it quiet… One day I will show you guys.”
