Brendan Allen has clarified the conditions under which he would step into the Octagon against friend and fellow middleweight Khamzat Chimaev. Speaking on MMA Junkie Radio, Allen explained that the two have reached an understanding governing any potential clash.
“We have the agreement that we’re not going to fight each other unless it’s for gold,” Allen said. “So, if it’s for the belt, then we’re gonna fight. Fighting for the belt changes my life, and it changes my family’s. Everyone that I’ve ever come in contact with knows that about me: if it’s for a belt, there’s no questions that’s gonna be asked from my end.”
Allen extended his promotional winning streak to four bouts with a submission victory over Christian Leroy Duncan at UFC Vegas 122. Following that win, "All In" called out former champion Dricus Du Plessis as he looks to solidify his own title aspirations.
Chimaev suffered his first professional loss in May, losing the UFC middleweight championship to Sean Strickland at UFC 328. While "Borz" has pursued a rematch, Nassourdine Imavov appears positioned to receive the division's next title shot.
