Former champion Alexandre Pantoja (30-6) is set to challenge reigning flyweight titleholder Joshua Van (17-2) in a rematch at UFC 331 on Sept. 19 at Crypto.com Arena. Heading into the 125-pound title clash, both fighters have identified weaknesses in each other's skill sets and expressed confidence in securing a finish.

Pantoja’s Muay Thai coach at American Top Team, Anderson Franca, told Sherdog that the Brazilian challenger has surprises prepared for his return. Franca noted that Van’s previous fight against Taira provided useful study material for their preparation. While Franca anticipates Van will try to keep the bout standing out of concern for Pantoja’s grappling, he believes Pantoja can also threaten on the feet. Franca predicted a fourth-round finish for Pantoja, adding that coach Parrumpa ensured Pantoja is conditioned to push for all five rounds if needed.

Meanwhile, the 24-year-old champion is targeting a finish inside of three rounds. Van told Full Send MMA that he spotted a chink in Pantoja’s armor and is unconcerned about the challenger's ground game, suggesting he could even secure a submission of his own. “We work on defending that position, but maybe I’ll be the one who gets him in the rear-naked choke,” Van said.
